Dr. Lindsay O Neill

Biography

Lindsay O'Neill is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in the Department of History at the University of Southern California. She received her Ph.D. in History from Yale University in 2008 and her B.A. in History from Pomona College in 2001. Her research interests focus on the role of letter writing in the Early Modern British world, particularly how networks formed through written correspondence helped connect the expanding British world during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. One of her notable publications is "Opened Letter: Networking Early Modern British World," published by the University of Pennsylvania Press in 2015. O'Neill has also contributed to journals, including articles in the Huntington Library Quarterly exploring themes around news, trust, and communications in the British world of that era. Through her teaching and research, O'Neill engages with the complexities of historical societal interactions and the evolution of communication.
