Biography

Lindsay Thomas's research and teaching focus on contemporary literature, cultural studies, and digital humanities. She is the author of 'Training Catastrophe: Fictions of National Security 9/11' published by the University of Minnesota Press in 2021, which examines how fiction shapes contemporary national security. From 2017 to 2021, she served as co-director of 'WhatEvery1Says', a multi-institutional public humanities project funded by the Mellon Foundation that utilized computational text analysis to explore public discourse on the value of the humanities at a large scale. Her scholarship has appeared in notable journals including 'American Literature', 'Journal of Cultural Analytics', and 'Daedalus'. Currently, she is working on the history of the solutions to the problem of novelistic length in the mid-20th century.
