Dr. Lindsey George

Biography

Dr. Lindsey George is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and serves as the Director of Clinical In Vivo Gene Therapy and Attending Hematologist at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Her clinical expertise lies in coagulation disorders and gene therapy techniques for treating monogenic disorders. Dr. George focuses on the molecular basis of coagulation, studying the mechanisms that regulate factor VIII/VIIIa cofactor function to improve understanding of associated disease states such as hemophilia and thrombosis. She leads ongoing studies to exploit biochemical insights for developing novel gene-based therapies for hemophilia. Notably, Dr. George has been involved in early-phase gene transfer trials utilizing adeno-associated virus (AAV) for hemophilia B. Her research aims to advance clinical applications of gene therapy, with a focus on safely implementing gene addition and editing techniques using licensed AAV vectors. She is actively engaged in numerous national and international professional societies, including serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy.
