Biography

Lindsey Kurtz is the Director of Legal English Certificate Programs and a Language Specialist in the Master of Laws Program at Penn State Dickinson Law. Prior to joining Penn State, she worked at Peking University School of Transnational Law as the Director of the Center for Academic Legal English. Dr. Kurtz focuses on understanding concepts in linguistic theories that assist multilingual students in their study of U.S. law. She draws on diverse linguistic pedagogical theories, including cognitive linguistics, corpus linguistics, and Vygotskian sociocultural theory. Additionally, her research interests encompass English for Specific Purposes, dynamic assessment, and technology-assisted language learning. Dr. Kurtz has previously taught English in China, Japan, and Mexico.
