Biography

Lindsey Taylor-Guthartz completed her doctorate at University College London in 2016, focusing on Anthropology and Jewish Studies with a particular interest in Archaeology. She studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and later held the Rothschild Hanadiv Foundation Europe Postgraduate Fellowship at the Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Manchester from 2019 to 2021. In 2021, she received Orthodox rabbinic ordination from Yeshivat Maharat in New York. Lindsey has served as an academic editor for the Bible Lands Museum in Jerusalem, the British Museum, and the Littman Library of Jewish Civilization. She has taught at notable institutions including Oxford, King's College London, SOAS, and the London School of Jewish Studies. Her research focuses on the British Jewish community, particularly examining religious life. She authored a book on the religious lives of Orthodox Jewish women in the UK and is currently preparing a book about Limmud, a cross-communal educational conference held annually since 1980 that has inspired 90 branches in 40 countries worldwide. Her teaching includes courses on Modern Judaism, Jewish Tradition, and Gender in Judaism.
