Dr. Line Dalsgård

Biography

Line Dalsgård is a Professor at Aarhus University, focusing her work on existential issues concerning human life, love, motherhood, and the perception of time. She has engaged in fieldwork in Brazil and has significant experience in the Danish context, especially in relation to solitary and shared readings of literature. Her research interweaves dialogues with anthropologists and philosophers, emphasizing ethnographic note-taking and the role of imagination in the art of ethnographic writing. Dalsgård has published numerous peer-reviewed books and articles, addressing women's experiences during menopause in artistic contexts. With a background as an anthropologist and having worked with an explorative theater company, her experiences have shaped her academic approach. Dalsgård, a trained breathing therapist, aims to explore the interplay between embodiment, time, and breathing, particularly during her sabbatical between 2025 and 2026 as she writes a book titled 'Enduring Love: Revisiting Maternal Sentiments in Northeast Brazil through the Lens of Time'. Additionally, she is involved in a Velux funded project focusing on parenthood, set to begin in 2026. Her works include 'Resonant Ethnography: Understanding the World through Writing' and 'Sagens kerne: 20 antropologiske essays om skønlitterær inspiration'.
