Dr. Line Thomsen

Biography

Line Elnif Thomsen is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in Veterinary Pathobiology within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. Her research integrates molecular approaches to identify and characterize virulence factors in human and animal pathogenic bacteria, including Streptococcus, Listeria, Staphylococcus, and Salmonella. Currently, Thomsen's work emphasizes the significance of Streptococcus surface proteins in virulence and their potential application in vaccine development. She is also investigating antimicrobial peptides in response to the rise of antibiotic-resistant pathogens, focusing on their mechanistic action and therapeutic implications. With a strong academic foundation, having earned her Cand.scient. in Molecular Biology and a Ph.D. from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, she has contributed extensively to the field through research assistantships and professorial positions. Additionally, her international collaborations with esteemed institutions like Stanford University and Baylor College of Medicine have enriched her expertise in host-pathogen interactions and the utilization of non-mammalian model organisms for virulence studies, promoting ethical research methodologies.
