Dr. Lingchong You

Biography

Lingchong You is a James L. Meriam Distinguished Professor in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Duke University. His research focuses on quantitative biology, synthetic biology, and machine learning, aiming to elucidate the principles underlying the dynamics of microbial communities. He utilizes mathematical modeling and quantitative experiments to control dynamics for various applications in computation, engineering, and medicine. Lingchong holds a B.S.E. from Chengdu University of Science and Technology, an M.S. from the University of Science and Technology of China, and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His academic career includes positions in both biomedical engineering and molecular genetics, as well as directing the Center for Quantitative Biology. He has received multiple awards, including the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering Fellowship and the National Science Foundation CAREER award, reflecting his significant contributions to the field. Lingchong has taught numerous courses in engineering, models of gene circuits, and research methodologies. His impactful work has led to advancements in understanding antibiotic resistance and the interactions within microbial ecosystems, making him a leading figure in the field of synthetic biology.
