Biography

Lingfang Zeng graduated from Wuhan University with a BSc in Virology in 1987 and obtained her MSc in Virology from the same institution in 1990. She completed her PhD in Cell Biology at Beijing Normal University in 1993. Following her doctoral studies, she engaged in a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Pathology, Beijing Medical University, before joining the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1997, she was appointed as an Associate Professor at Beijing Normal University. From 2000 to 2007, she conducted research in Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of California, Riverside, St George’s University of London, and King’s College London. In 2007, she was appointed as a Non-Clinical Lecturer in the Cardiovascular Division at King’s College London, where she became an independent principal investigator and established her own research activities. Her research areas include stem and progenitor cell differentiation, endoplasmic reticulum stress, epigenetic modification, signal transduction, and gene expression. She is particularly interested in the regulation of gene expression through alternative transcription, splicing, and translation, as well as the role of small non-coding RNAs and small peptides.
