Biography

Lingyi (Leah) Zheng is an Assistant Professor at the Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba. She earned her Ph.D. in Accounting from Rutgers University in 2019. Before joining the Asper School of Business, she worked as a research assistant professor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her research primarily focuses on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues, corporate control markets, and financial reporting. She is particularly interested in the impact of ESG initiatives on corporate behaviors and disclosure practices. Zheng also has teaching interests in Accounting Theory, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Taxation. Her recent journal publications include studies on the relationship between firms' ESG initiatives and hostile takeovers, as well as the implications of cross-listings and anti-takeover defenses on corporate finance. Additionally, she contributes to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically in areas of environmental sustainability and poverty reduction.
