Lingyu studied biology at Shanghai Ocean University, where they discovered their interest in nutrition and physiology research. They joined the Laboratory of Aquaculture Nutrition Environmental Health (LANEH) at East China Normal University (ECNU), receiving a PhD degree in Metabolic Physiology in 2020. Their PhD research focused on investigating the molecular regulation of energy homeostasis reprogramming, particularly in fish models such as tilapia and zebrafish. During their PhD, Lingyu worked as a research assistant in Professor Du's lab at LANEH. In February 2021, they joined Teresa Frisan's group, where they shifted their research focus to immunity and are actively identifying new molecular regulators in innate immunity. Lingyu is currently investigating the effects of a novel bacterial cytotoxin on tumor progression and immune cell signaling.
