Biography

Lingzi Zhuang’s research seeks to bring formally rigorous semantic theory to the understanding of typologically diverse meaning domains, both synchronically and diachronically. Her work has focused on speech act-level phenomena, including mirativity, evidentiality, and attitudinal expressions, as well as event structure and nominal reference. She maintains an areal-historical specialty in Sino-Tibetan languages, particularly in the Himalayas and East Asia, and is committed to language documentation in urban settings. Beyond her academic pursuits, Zhuang enjoys cycling, collecting fountain pens, exploring storied cities, and engaging in good conversations.
