Biography

Linran Fan is an Assistant Professor and Texas ECE Early Career Fellow at the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He received his B.S. in Physics from Peking University in 2011 and completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Yale University in 2017. Following his doctoral studies, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology in 2018. Linran joined the Wyant College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona as an assistant professor in August 2018 before returning to UT Austin in August 2023. His research interests are centered on nonlinear interactions among optical photons, superconducting circuits, electron spins, and acoustic waves at the quantum level, focusing on hybrid systems and novel integrated devices. He aims to enhance applications in photonic information processing, communication, and precision measurement, with a significant emphasis on advancing quantum information science.
