Biography

Professor Liping Cai is an American Council on Education Fellow and a leading expert in rural tourism and quality of life. Since 1993, he has made significant contributions to the fields of tourism and hospitality, authoring and co-authoring 310 peer-reviewed articles and receiving numerous awards for his work. Cai's expertise extends to developing cooperative destination branding models for rural communities. He currently directs the Purdue Tourism and Hospitality Research Center and leads research teams focusing on branding and emerging markets. His past leadership roles include serving as a travel and tourism expert for the World Economic Forum and as a governor appointee on Indiana's Tourism Council. His educational background includes a PhD from Purdue University and an MBA from Michigan State University. He is also actively involved in the academic community, serving on editorial boards for peer-reviewed journals and co-editing a book series that bridges tourism theories and practices.
