Biography

Liping Fu is a Professor at the University of Waterloo, serving in the Transport Systems Research Group and as the Director of the Innovative Transportation System Solutions (iTSS) Lab. The lab focuses on developing software products related to transportation. Professor Fu has designed GradeX, a decision-support tool that assists railway safety engineers in Canada to identify crossing hotspots and evaluate safety improvement projects. He is also involved in the SimParatransit product to provide equitable transportation for the elderly and disabled populations. Professor Fu's research spans intelligent transportation systems, public transit, road safety, and winter road maintenance. He has provided technical services for various transportation agencies and has served on numerous committees, including the Transportation Research Board's Committee and the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Transportation Research. He has received the Transportation Association of Canada's Academic Merit Award for his significant contributions to the field of transportation engineering.
