Biography

Prof. Liqiu Meng is a prominent researcher in the field of Cartography and Visual Analytics. His recent research focus encompasses geodata integration, spatial cognition, Mixed Reality, visual data mining, and map-based multimodal services. He earned a Master of Science in Cartography and Geodetic Engineering in 1985 from China and completed his PhD in Geodetic Engineering at the University of Hannover in 1993. In 1998, he obtained a university teaching qualification from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and was appointed Chair of Cartography at the Technical University of Munich in 2009. Prof. Meng served as a senator in the Helmholtz Association from 2008 to 2014 and also held the position of Senior Vice President for international alliances and alumni at TUM. He is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences (2011) and the Bavarian Academy of Sciences (2013). Furthermore, he has been the Vice President of the International Cartographic Association.
