Biography

Lisa Austin has a distinguished academic background, with degrees including a BA & Sc from McMaster University in 1994, an MA from the University of Toronto in 1995, an LLM from the University of Toronto in 1998, and a PhD from the University of Toronto in 2005. She was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2006. Prior to her current role as a Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, she served as a law clerk for Mr. Justice Frank Iacobucci at the Supreme Court of Canada. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the President's Impact Award by the University of Toronto in 2017. Her research interests lie predominantly in Legal Theory, including Philosophical Approaches to Law, Private Law, and Property Law.
