Biography

Prior to joining Desautels, Lisa Cohen was a faculty member at the London Business School, Yale School of Management, and the Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Irvine, where she taught courses in strategic human resources, organizational behavior, and communications. Lisa received her PhD in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. She also has an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a BA in Sociology from Kalamazoo College. In addition to her academic roles, Lisa enjoyed a successful consultancy career working as a Principal Consultant with Terranova Consulting Group/Right Management Consultants, focusing on human resource management consulting to improve organizations’ potential in managing their people. Her research interests include Human Resource Management, Labour Issues, Labour Market, Managerial Careers, Organization/Job Structure, Organizational Theory, and Recruitment. Cohen has published in prominent journals such as the Academy of Management Journal and the American Sociological Review, contributing to the understanding of task structures within organizations, particularly in relation to startups and managerial recruitment.
