Dr. Lisa Geller

Biography

Lisa Geller has 25 years of experience practicing intellectual property law strategy. She is the principal of Intellectual Property Strategy, LLC, where she advises life science and pharmaceutical companies on various aspects of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. Her emphasis is on developing both short-term and long-term strategies to integrate global intellectual property strategies into business plans. Dr. Geller collaborates with scientists and entrepreneurs to identify inventions and advises on potential pathways to maximize the utility of patents covering those inventions, working with teams to bridge and coordinate the technical and business aspects of the company. Previously, she served as Senior Vice President of Intellectual Property at Frequency Therapeutics and Head of Intellectual Property at Casebia Therapeutics and Seres Therapeutics. She has managed comprehensive intellectual property portfolios and served as Associate General Counsel at Biogen Idec, overseeing patent portfolios for drugs at various stages of development, including R&D and commercial blockbuster drugs. Prior to joining Biogen Idec, Dr. Geller practiced patent law at prestigious law firms, including Fish & Richardson P.C. and Wilmer Hale, focusing on client counseling and licensing primarily in the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals sectors. Dr. Geller received her PhD in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and served as a post-doctoral fellow and faculty member in the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School. She holds a JD degree from Boston University School of Law and teaches a seminar on patent prosecution.
