Biography

Lisa Kalynchuk is a professor at the University of Victoria, where she serves as Vice-President of Research & Innovation. She earned her B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Alberta and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Behavioural Neuroscience from the University of British Columbia. Her research primarily focuses on the neurobiology of depression, psychiatric complications associated with epilepsy, and the effects of chronic stress on brain behavior. Since joining the University of Victoria on July 1, 2017, Dr. Kalynchuk has been committed to advancing the understanding of neuroscience, particularly in areas impacting mental health. She has held an academic appointment in the Division of Medical Sciences and an adjunct appointment in the Department of Psychology. Dr. Kalynchuk is dedicated to producing internationally recognized advances in neuroscience knowledge and actively supports students and faculty in their mission to further research in this critical field.
