Biography

Lisa Kastbom is an Associate Professor at Linköping University, specializing in Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences. She defended her thesis in 2021 titled 'A Good Death Perspective: Patients with Severe Illness and Advance Care Planning in Patients Near End-of-Life.' Her research focuses on older people's health, cancer palliative medicine, and cardiovascular diseases, alongside alcohol-related diseases. Kastbom has been involved in teaching medical students and supervising PhD candidates, contributing significantly to the neuro-oncology field. She is part of a research group studying treatment methods for glioblastoma (GBM) patients, particularly exploring the experiences of patients, their families, and healthcare staff involved in treatment. In 2023, she became the principal investigator for the Swedish national research project BRAVE – Brain Tumor Related Aggression Violence Exposure, aimed at developing and evaluating interventions to improve the detection and support of families affected by the aggression and personality changes in brain tumor patients.
