Biography

Lisa Klerman is a Clinical Professor of Law at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, where she directs the Mediation Clinic. She has developed courses for the Mediation Clinic that have received national recognition, including the prestigious ADR Education Award from the Ninth Circuit Judicial Council in 2011. Klerman is also the founding director of the law school's ADR Certificate Program and Center for Dispute Resolution. In addition to her work at USC, she is a professional mediator with a private practice specializing in employment law mediations. Previously, Klerman was a partner in the employment law department at Morrison & Foerster, where she represented both plaintiffs and defendants in various legal matters, including notable jury trials and high-profile appellate cases. She is a frequent speaker on topics related to alternative dispute resolution, negotiation, mediation, employment law, and class actions, and has been interviewed by major publications and served as a legal commentator for NBC Nightly News, National Public Radio, and the BBC. Klerman graduated with a BA with distinction from the University of California at Berkeley and received her JD from the University of Chicago, where she was a member of the University of Chicago Law Review.
