Biography

Lisa Martz is an experienced litigation lawyer who has practiced in Vancouver for over 25 years. She has acted as counsel on behalf of the Province of British Columbia, as well as for large and small companies and individuals. Lisa has served as commission counsel in a number of public inquiries in British Columbia and has also been involved in criminal defense counsel for youth in care. A graduate of the University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Law, she returned to the law school to teach in January 2021. Lisa is passionate about bridging the gap between law school and the legal work that students' degrees may lead them to. She supervises the Judicial Externship program and teaches courses including Foundations of Dispute Resolution, Legal Ethics & Professionalism, and the Advocacy Course, which is home to the first-year moot competition.
