Biography

Lisa Merry is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Nursing at the Université de Montréal since September 2017. She is also a researcher at the SHERPA Research Center, part of the University Institute concerning ethnocultural communities of CIUSSS West-Central Montreal. Dr. Merry has 15 years of research experience with migrant populations, particularly pregnant and postpartum women. She coordinated multiple research projects (2000-2010) focused on access to care for migrant women during pregnancy and the postpartum period and has worked on various projects to develop integrated research methods adapted to the multicultural and vulnerable contexts of these women. Dr. Merry obtained her Doctorate in Fall 2015 from the Ingram School of Nursing at McGill University, which aimed to understand the risk factors associated with cesarean sections among migrant women. In 2017, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Ottawa's School of Nursing, funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé. During this period, she conducted a qualitative literature review on the experiences of refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants without status in parenting in a new country.
