Lisa Moffitt is an Associate Professor and the Associate Director of the Graduate program at Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism, Carleton University. With a focus on architectural design, she completed her PhD in Architecture Design at the University of Edinburgh. Her design research practice, Studio Moffitt, engages in speculative built projects that examine how environmental processes can be communicated through architectural models. Moffitt's work seeks to visualize the complexities of environmental systems, such as airflow and material movements, making the often invisible elements of climate change and environmental impact comprehensible through tangible models. She has contributed to various academic publications and her recent book, Architecture’s Model Environments, reflects her innovative approach to architecture and environmental issues. Moffitt is also involved in SSHRC funded projects related to regenerative building materials and the adaptation of landscapes in the context of Canada’s changing climate. Recently, her research and teaching have focused on the implications of climate significance in Canada, where certain regions are warming at a rate twice that of the global average.
