Biography

Lisa Pasolli is an Associate Professor and the Chair of Graduate Studies at Queen's University in the Department of History. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Victoria (2012), an M.A. from the University of New Brunswick (2007), and a B.A. from the University of Lethbridge (2005). Her research focuses on 20th century Canadian history, particularly in the areas of social policy, women's rights, and the welfare state. She is the author of 'Working Mothers Child Care Dilemma: History British Columbia’s Social Policy' (2015), which was awarded the Canadian Historical Association’s BC Clio Prize. She is involved in ongoing projects that explore national politics around child care, motherhood, and the welfare state in Canada, including a SSHRC-funded project examining the relationship between tax expenditures and social policy. Pasolli is also active in various SSHRC Partnership Grants involving interdisciplinary research on family policies and child care. She welcomes graduate supervision for students interested in a broad range of topics in 20th century Canadian social and political history.
