Biography

Lisa Patel received her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Stanford University. She has worked in Egypt, Brazil, and India on international development projects with community-based organizations and non-profits, focusing on conservation and development efforts. She obtained a Master's in Environmental Sciences from Yale School of the Environment and was a Presidential Management Fellow at the Environmental Protection Agency, coordinating the government's efforts on clean air and safe drinking water projects in South Asia in collaboration with the World Health Organization. Recognizing the critical links between children's health and environmental issues, she earned her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University and completed her residency in pediatrics at UCSF. Lisa has used her extensive experience to advocate for children's health priorities and has been involved in various committees within the American Academy of Pediatrics. She co-founded the Climate Health Committee and has served in leadership roles at AAP's national Council on Environmental Health and Climate Change. Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Stanford Children’s Health Advocacy Award in 2023. Currently, she is the Executive Director of the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health while maintaining her clinical practice as a pediatric hospitalist.
