Biography

Lisa Pavinato is a postdoctoral researcher currently completing her MSc in Medical Biotechnologies. She obtained her PhD in Medical Genetics, with parts of her studies conducted at the University of Turin in Italy and Uniklinik Köln in Germany. Her main research focus is on neurogenetics, where she investigates the genetic basis of neurodevelopmental disorders utilizing induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neuronal models. Throughout her career, she has identified novel genes associated with rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorders. Pavinato has received multiple research grants, including those from DAAD and EMBO CorEuStem, and has presented her findings at various genetic and neuroscience conferences, where she has participated as both a speaker and a finalist for awards such as the Charles J. Epstein Trainee Awards in 2021 and the Early Career Award from ESHG in 2022. Additionally, she has been recognized as the winner of the oral presentation at the SIGU conference 2021. In 2024, she received funding from the Italian Ministry of Health for her ongoing research in genetics related to rare diseases. Currently, she continues her work with iPSC-derived models, with a specific interest in developing new platforms to study genetic conditions.
