Lisa Pecot-Hébert is a critical-cultural trained scholar with over 20 years of experience teaching at the college level. She teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in print, broadcast, and multimedia journalism, and serves as the director of the graduate journalism program at USC Annenberg. She has also advised the USC chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). Before joining USC, she spent nine years at DePaul University in Chicago and taught for four years at Xavier University in New Orleans. Pecot-Hébert has worked as a staff writer for the Dallas Morning News and New Orleans Tribune, and was the West Coast bureau chief for the Youth Juvenile Justice Information Exchange (JJIE). She produced a health program in New Orleans called Urban Pediatrics and hosted a hybrid music/talk show named Live 8th Floor. Lisa is a fellow of the American Society of Newspaper Editors and the George Foster Peabody program. She holds a bachelor's degree in social science from the University of California, Berkeley, a master's degree in broadcast journalism and public affairs from American University, and a doctorate in communication from the University of Georgia, where she also earned a graduate certificate in women's and gender studies and a diversity certificate from DePaul University.
