Professor Dr. Lisa Tønning

Biography

Lisa Urup Tønning is associated with Aarhus University Hospital, focusing on hip dysplasia and its treatment outcomes. Her research investigates patient characteristics, rehabilitation, and the effectiveness of periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) in addressing substantial pain and functional limitations faced by patients with hip dysplasia. Currently, she is leading a randomized controlled trial comparing PAO followed by progressive resistance training to resistance training alone in the context of returning to sports. Tønning also contributes to academic teaching and supervision, with a solid involvement in clinical trials and patient-reported outcomes. Her extensive academic background includes obtaining a Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine from Aarhus University Hospital, a Master's Degree in Health Science from Aarhus University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy from University College. Moreover, she actively participates in collaborative research projects and has a rich history of presentations at various academic events. Lisa is committed to advancing knowledge in the field of sports physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
