Lisa graduated from the University of Hull in 1993 with a first-class LLB (Hons) Law degree and later completed her PhD in 1999, focusing on the mortgage possession process. She began her academic career at the University of Hull, where she was appointed as a Lecturer in 1997 and progressed to Senior Lecturer and Reader before joining the University of Southampton.
