Biography

Lisa C. Young is a lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Michigan, where she is also a research affiliate at the Museum of Anthropological Archaeology. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, received in 1996, an M.A. from the University of Arizona in 1985, and a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1983. Her research focuses on archaeological variation and change in small-scale farming communities in North America, especially in the southwestern United States. Young has conducted fieldwork on pithouse villages and small pueblos in the Homol'ovi area of northeastern Arizona. She is passionate about sharing her research with the public and is particularly interested in how contemporary people and descendant communities engage with archaeological remains in museum collections.
