Dr. Lise Arleth

Biography

Lise Arleth is a Professor of Experimental Biophysics at the Niels Bohr Institute, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen. With a background in Physics and Biophysics, she has been actively involved in research on small-angle scattering techniques, specifically SAXS and SANS, focusing on self-assembling colloidal systems and their relevance to biological and pharmaceutical applications. Her work includes extensive investigations into lipid-protein co-structures and the use of nanodiscs for studying membrane proteins. Lise's academic career includes a PhD from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in 2002, followed by various post-doctoral positions, culminating in her current role as Associate Dean of Research at the Faculty of Science. Lise has a strong commitment to securing optimal instrumentation for biological samples at the European Spallation Source and engaging with the Danish industry to apply small-angle scattering methodologies. She has supervised numerous PhD and MSc students and has an impressive record of fundraising for large-scale research projects. With over 81 peer-reviewed publications and a notable h-index of 27, her work significantly contributes to the fields of biophysics and material science.
