Biography

Lise Daoust has made significant contributions as a flutist, researcher, and pedagogue, blending a robust artistic practice with teaching. Throughout her career, she has mentored 62 graduate students, many of whom have achieved recognition on the international stage as soloists or in prestigious orchestral positions. Born in Montreal and trained at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, she further honed her skills at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, studying with renowned masters such as Jean-Pierre Rampal. Daoust has a deep engagement with musical innovation, having created over 50 works while conducting research on the music of German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, with whom she closely worked for 16 years. Her passion extends to studying the sonatas of J.S. Bach and traditional Chinese and South American music. A two-time Opus award winner, she has recorded over a dozen albums that showcase the eclecticism of her repertoire.
