Biography

Lise Gauvin is a full professor in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine at the School of Public Health at the Université de Montréal. She is a researcher at the Centre de recherche du CHUM and the Léa-Roback Research Center on Social Inequalities in Health in Montreal. She serves as the Deputy Scientific Director for population health research at the Centre de recherche du CHUM and is in charge of the Carrefour de l'innovation. Lise's research focuses on the social and environmental determinants of regular physical activity and interventions to promote it at the population level. Methodologically, her work employs innovative quantitative and epidemiological methods, including multilevel analysis and systematic social observation. Her team investigates how neighborhood characteristics can influence lifestyle habits, the aspects of neighborhoods that can target public health interventions, and how these interventions can positively change communities. Furthermore, Lise's contributions to health promotion are grounded in an ecological public health approach, participating in numerous research projects on social determinants of health.
