Lise Lotte Weilgaard Christensen's research is centered on terminology and language technology, focusing on terminological work as a basis for machine translation, as well as the use of corpus tools and terminology management tools to enhance and improve the terminological work. A significant part of her research has examined how the valency patterns of Danish verbs can be utilized as knowledge patterns to extract terminological categories from electronic corpora. She has later addressed this focus on terminology and language technology in conjunction with Bodil Nistrup Madsen through the lens of Computational Thinking and terminological conceptual work. Since 2024, she has been affiliated with the research program on Didactics, Design, and Digitalization at IDMU, aiming to engage in didactics and learning in relation to terminology education. Her research interests include specialized language, terminology, language technology (building specialized dictionaries), corpus linguistics, extraction of terminological categories using Danish verbs, organization of knowledge related to terminology and library science, Danish-German text terminology, and neighbor languages (Danish-German). Recent publications include works on the history of terminology in the Nordic countries and Denmark, both published by Benjamins Publishing Company.
