Live Stretmo defended her doctoral thesis in 2014, focusing on the reception of unaccompanied minors in Sweden and Norway. Since then, she has continued to research the specific situation of unaccompanied children and youth within the Swedish context. In 2015, she became a senior lecturer in Child Youth Studies at IPKL and has since served as the director of studies for the primary teacher’s program specializing in school-age educare. Her research emphasizes the living conditions of children and youth, with a specific focus on intersectional aspects, the everyday lives of newly arrived children and youth, and the life situations of young people identifying as LGBTQIA+ in structurally disadvantaged areas. Stretmo has also been involved in gender mainstreaming work and has coordinated research networks addressing Children and Migration. Her recent projects tackle themes of migration, identity, and education among youth, contributing extensively to scholarly discussions and research on these vital issues.
