Biography

Livia Cupertino Malheiros is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. Holding a PhD in Materials Engineering, she is also a MSCA Energy Future Fellow. Her current research focuses on scientific breakthroughs in materials solutions that accelerate the energy transition and address a wide range of multidisciplinary engineering challenges. This includes providing infrastructure for hydrogen production and transportation, developing durable offshore wind turbines, and creating sustainable manufacturing routes for alloys. Livia has been recognized with several awards, including the UKRI New Investigator Award in 2025, the Young EFC Plenary Lecture at EUROCORR 2025, and the MSCA-Iberdrola Energy Future Fellowship in 2024. She was shortlisted for the L’Oreal-UNESCO Women in Science UK Ireland Rising Talent award in 2023 and garnered the Prix Pierre Vayssiere from the French Society Metallurgy Materials in 2017.
