Biography

Livia Solaro is a Ph.D. researcher at Maastricht University’s Faculty of Law. Her research focuses on the restitution of Nazi-looted art, particularly on litigation related to this topic. Livia obtained her Master of Laws degree from Trento University in Italy, and as part of the Erasmus+ programme, she also studied at Maastricht University in the Netherlands and Newcastle Law School in the United Kingdom. She has interned at the Italian Embassy in Tokyo and currently tutors courses on Art Law, Private International Law, and Comparative Property Law at Maastricht University. Livia is a member of the Maastricht European Private Law Institute (M-EPLI) and co-founder of the UM Law & Popular Culture Research Network as well as the Centre for Heritage & Art Law Research Maastricht (CHARM). Furthermore, she contributes as a volunteer researcher to the Nazi-Looted Art Restitution Project, focusing on provenance research and restitution topics.
