Biography

Livia earned her doctoral degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario, specializing in Personality Measurement. During her graduate work, she developed expertise in test development and assessment of the etiological factors underlying maladaptive tendencies. Specifically, utilizing psychometric and quantitative behavioral genetic methodologies, she identified and explored personality traits that are largely overlooked by traditional personality models, which therefore ineffectively assess applied contexts. Livia has extended her empirical interest in maladaptive behaviors during her postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Mental Health Policy Research, Center for Addiction and Mental Health. During her tenure, Livia developed a line of research examining the etiological factors that contribute to problematic video gaming and gambling behaviors among adolescents, along with the policy implications of these behaviors.
