Biography

Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada, in January 2010. He completed his Ph.D. internship as a researcher at ABB's Switzerland Corporate Research Center in Baden-Dattwil. From February to July 2010, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UBC. In August 2010, he joined ABB Sweden as a Scientist and later became a Senior Scientist. He joined the School of Engineering at UBC in Kelowna, BC, Canada, in July 2014, first as an Assistant Professor and then as an Associate Professor. Dr. Wang serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics and the IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion. He has received multiple Teaching Excellence Awards at UBCO and has supervised Ph.D. students who achieved various prestigious paper awards. He has established a research lab focused on flexible power transmission for renewable energy integration, receiving significant funding for equipment and infrastructure.
