Biography

Lixin Liu is an Associate Professor in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, specifically within the Department of Pharmacology. His research focuses on the role of intracellular signaling molecules in leukocyte recruitment and transendothelial migration, which are critical processes in the inflammation response. Liu's work delves into the dynamic interactions between leukocytes and vascular endothelial cells, examining how these cells tether, roll along the endothelium, become activated, and adhere firmly to migrate through the endothelium (diapedesis) to sites of infection or injury. His research emphasizes the intricate cellular and molecular mechanisms that orchestrate these events, particularly the signaling pathways and cell adhesion molecules involved. Liu's academic credentials include a Ph.D. from Uppsala University, Sweden, a Master of Medical Science from Soochow University, and a Bachelor of Medical Science from the same institution in China.
