Biography

Liyuan holds M.Sc. degrees from the University of Glasgow and completed her PhD in Urban Studies in 2021. Her research focuses on neighborhood attachment, social participation, and urban governance in Chinese cities. She has taught more than ten undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Urban Studies and serves as a reviewer for the Ethics Committee in the School of Social and Political Sciences. Her research interests include social public policy, neighborhoods, residential mobility, spatial segregation, social cohesion, and urban development. She is particularly focused on qualitative methods and welcomes applications from prospective PhD students in areas such as Urban Policy, Neighborhoods, and Urban Segregation. Currently, she is supervising PhDs on topics related to urban governance and neighborhood effects in urban China.
