Dr. Liz Jones

Biography

Professor Liz Jones is an archaeologist and vice-dean of education at University College London, specializing in Civil, Environmental, and Geomatic Engineering. She is known for her expertise in Surveying and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and provides consultancy in technical educational capacities. Professor Jones has held various academic positions, including Director of Studies for the Civil, Environmental, and Geomatic Engineering department. With a focus on enhancing the student experience, she has been involved in community engagement efforts and works on issues related to diversity and inclusivity within the higher education sector. She has contributed to multiple committees focused on engineering education and plays an active role in supervising research projects that bridge civil engineering and archaeology. Her academic background includes a BA in Egyptian Archaeology and an MSc in GIS from University College London, as well as an MA in Egyptology from the University of Liverpool. Professor Jones has been a member of the faculty since 2008, prior to which she worked as a surveyor in a 3D team. She is passionate about mentoring and collaborative projects that benefit students and the community.
