Biography

Liz McKnight is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Greek and Latin at University College London. She studied Classics at the undergraduate level in the 1980s and later qualified as a solicitor, practicing as a solicitor advocate in the City of London for over 25 years. She resumed her studies in Classics at UCL, completing her MA in 2013 and her PhD in 2018. Her doctoral thesis examined aspects of the writings of Cicero, Livy, younger Seneca, and younger Pliny, with an emphasis on individual conceptions of the role of law in Roman society and the idea of the 'rule of law' as disclosed in their works. Since joining the teaching staff at UCL, she has taught a range of modules in Greek and Latin language and literature. Her research interests include Roman law, Roman rhetoric, and Roman literature from the Republican to the Imperial periods.
