Dr. Lloyd Sederer

Biography

Lloyd Sederer, MD, is a psychiatrist and public health doctor with extensive experience in mental health and medical education. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health and is the Chief Medical Officer at McLean Hospital, part of Harvard's medical system. Previously, he held key roles such as Mental Health Commissioner for New York City during the Bloomberg administration and Chief Medical Officer for the New York State Office of Mental Health, which is the largest state mental health agency in the country. Dr. Sederer has authored 13 books, including works aimed at both medical professionals and the general public, and has published approximately 500 articles across various renowned print and online platforms, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Scientific American. He is also a Medical Editor for Mental Health at HuffPost, where his contributions exceed 100 articles. Dr. Sederer continues to write for Psychology and Psychiatric NY Journal Books, with a forthcoming book in late 2023 that explores the intersection of healthcare, leadership, and the evolving landscape of medicine.
