Dr. Loa Clausen

Biography

Loa Clausen is a Senior Researcher at Aarhus University, specializing in clinical psychiatry with a focus on eating disorders and psychiatric illnesses. She holds a Master's degree in Psychology and a PhD, where her doctoral research centered on treatment outcomes and changes in individuals with eating disorders over a 2.5-year follow-up period. With extensive experience in both clinical and research settings, Clausen’s work involves designing and conducting cohort studies, clinical register-based randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and utilizing both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. She has been active in the field since 1998, supervising PhD students and training psychology students, while also participating in various projects aimed at preventing eating disorders, particularly in young women with psychiatric conditions. Clausen's research interests lie in psychopathology, psychodiagnostics, and psychotherapy, specifically within child and adolescent psychiatry and adult psychiatric care. She has contributed significantly to research on lifestyle illnesses and psychological epidemiology, making her a leading figure in the study of eating disorders.
