Biography

Lode De Waele is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University, specializing in the field of Strategic Human Resource Management. He obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Antwerp in Belgium, where he began his doctoral studies in 2013. Before his academic career, Lode worked in the public sector for several years as an accountant, cabinet member, and senior consultant. His main research interests include hybridity, public service motivation, and integrity. He has teaching responsibilities in various courses such as Management Organization, Strategic Management, Introduction to Business Administration, Financial Management, Organization Studies, and European International Environments. In November 2019, Lode co-founded a think tank named Eleni, which addresses ecological, fiscal, and geopolitical challenges, contributing opinion pieces to national newspapers. He also served as an advisor on fiscal policies for the Budget Federal Parliament of Belgium in July 2021. Prior to his role at Utrecht University, he was employed as a Lecturer Researcher in the Department of Organization Studies at Tilburg University in the Netherlands from August 2021 to 2022. In April 2023, he was appointed as the conference manager for the International Research Society Public Management (IRSPM).
