Biography

Loes Knaapen is a sociologist working in the domain of Science and Technology Studies. Her primary research interests concern epistemological and regulatory issues surrounding standardization and norm-setting in medicine. After obtaining her PhD from McGill University, she completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Public Health Research Institute of the University of Montreal. Her publications include research on the establishment of new medical categories, the production of international regulations for Evidence-Based care standards, and public participation in the regulation of pharmaceuticals in the USA. At the University of Ottawa, she teaches courses in Qualitative Research Methods and the Sociology of Health and Medicine.
