Biography

Loki Natarajan received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1991. He served as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of Texas at El Paso from 1991 to 1993, and later at Tufts University from 1993 to 1998. In 2002, he joined the faculty at UC San Diego as a biostatistician and has since developed expertise in statistical methodologies for chronic diseases. Dr. Natarajan's research includes developing prognostic models for chronic diseases using high-dimensional data, health behavior studies, and methods for analyzing time-series data from wearable sensors. He is the founding Program Director of the Biostatistics PhD program at UC San Diego, initiated in Fall 2016, and teaches courses in Statistical Learning and Biostatistics. His mentorship has led to numerous successes for graduate students in national competitions and academic conferences.
